Florida Continuing Education for License Renewal

Florida requires 12 CE credits to renew a license. All twelve credits can be in the technical category, or at least nine credits must be in the technical and three can be in the personal category.

All Get Your CEU courses are approved by Florida and all are in the technical category, so all courses are accepted for state renewal.  In addition, your information will be sent to Florida for you so you don’t have to worry about doing that yourself.

Florida CE Credits Online for Radiologic Technologists

Meeting Florida's Renewal Rules the Easy Way

Florida’s continuing education requirements straight forward, but the rules around how those hours break down still trip people up at renewal time.

GetYourCEU gives radiologic technologists a way to complete Florida continuing education credits online, on their own timeline, without second-guessing whether a course actually fits what the state's Bureau of Radiation Control wants to see.

Below, you'll find the exact hour breakdown Florida requires, the category split between technical and personal-development coursework, and what to keep in mind before your biennium closes. Whether you're renewing for the first time or you've done this every two years for a while, Florida continuing education doesn't have to feel like guesswork.

Completing Florida CE Credits Online

None of this coursework has to happen in a classroom. Florida accepts self-study formats, including online courses, for the full renewal requirement, as long as the provider and course are properly approved. That makes it possible to knock out your Florida CE credits online between shifts, without scheduling around a live seminar.

One rule worth remembering: you can't repeat the same course, or even the same subject matter under a different course number, within a single biennium. If you've already taken a course on a topic this renewal period, look for something that covers new ground rather than assuming a repeat will count twice.

Why Technologists Choose to Renew Here

A few reasons Florida-licensed technologists keep coming back to complete their hours through GetYourCEU:

Every course in the catalog is accredited as Category A or A+ by ASRT or AHRA, which lines up with what Florida and the ARRT both look for during renewal.

Getting Through Your Biennium Without the Stress

Start by checking your license expiration date, since Florida renewals run on a two-year cycle tied to your specific certificate. Once you pass a course assessment, your certificate is available right away, so keep a copy alongside your license paperwork for your own records.

If you've recently passed a post-primary exam through ARRT or the Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board, you may be able to apply that toward your full 12-hour requirement instead of taking additional coursework, provided you submit proof of the passing score to the department during the same renewal cycle.

Technologists who hold certification in more than one category, such as general radiography combined with MR, should note that Florida CE credits online courses across a variety of subject areas can still count toward renewal, so it's worth checking whether coursework you've already completed for one credential also satisfies another.

Plan Ahead of Your Renewal Window

Florida sends renewal notices roughly 60 days before your license expires, but waiting for that notice to start your coursework leaves little room for error if something doesn't count the way you expected. Spacing your Florida continuing education credits out earlier in the biennium means you can catch a miscategorized course, whether it's marked technical when you needed personal development or the reverse, well before your deadline arrives.

Browse the full library of Florida-approved courses, sorted by category, hours, and price, and get your certificate the moment you pass. If you're unsure whether a course counts as technical or personal development for your license, reach out, and the team can help you sort it out.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What are online Florida CE credits in radiology?

They're the continuing education hours the Florida Department of Health requires radiologic technologists to complete every two years to keep their certificate active.

2. Can Florida continuing education be completed online?

Yes. Self-study formats, including online coursework, count toward the full 12-hour requirement as long as the course and provider are department-approved.

3. How are the 12 required hours split?

At least 9 hours must be technical coursework tied to your scope of practice, and no more than 3 hours can be personal development.

4. Can I repeat a course I've already taken this biennium?

No. Florida does not award credit for repeating the same course within the same renewal cycle.

Renew With Confidence

Florida continuing education credits don't need to be a last-minute scramble through a stack of unapproved courses. With a catalog sorted by category, instant grading, and certificates available the moment you finish, GetYourCEU keeps your renewal on track so you can spend less time on paperwork and more time on the job.
