Course Description
This comprehensive course provides technologists with essential knowledge and skills to consistently produce high-quality mammograms. Key topics encompass anatomy and positioning, with a focus on accommodating diverse body types. The course also addresses breast pathology, interventional procedures, and effective patient communication strategies.
New technologies, such as tomosynthesis, thermal imaging, and microwave imaging, provide information on current and emerging technology. The course covers quality metrics and regulatory standards related to the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) and American College of Radiology (ACR) accreditation. Additionally, radiation protection and radiobiology principles will be reviewed to enhance understanding and application in practice.
