Course Description
This DXA Scanning course provides a comprehensive review of bone mineral density assessment of the lumbar spine, proximal femur, and forearm. The course covers essential anatomy, patient preparation and positioning, scan acquisition, region-of-interest placement, and scan analysis for each measurement site. Emphasis is placed on obtaining accurate and reproducible BMD measurements, recognizing positioning errors, artifacts, degenerative changes, fractures, and other factors that may affect results. The course also reviews BMC, BMD, T-scores, Z-scores, graphical data, precision, least significant change, and techniques for comparing follow-up examinations. The course is designed to strengthen the technologist’s ability to perform, evaluate, and reproduce high-quality DXA examinations for reliable osteoporosis assessment and monitoring
