Coronary Angiography in Patients with Chronic Kidney Disease
1.0 Category A Credit
Course Description
Patients with chronic kidney disease are at high risk for CAD and, therefore coronary angiography is very often needed to establish the diagnosis and severity of CAD. The major challenge is how to select patients more likely to have significant CAD. The possibility of contrast-induced acute kidney injury needs careful decision-making when trying to establish the risk-benefit ratio for each patient. This chapter focuses on the management of these challenging patients and the preventive and therapeutic measures to minimize the risk of worsening renal function.
